Apr 10, 2023
GOODYEAR — Abrazo Health is partnering with the American Heart Association to present the new West Valley Heart Walk on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 at Goodyear Civic Square. Abrazo West Campus Chief Executive Officer Hans Driessnack is chair of the first-ever West Valley Heart Walk.

Abrazo-West-HeartThe West Valley Heart Walk will leverage the strengths of the vital West Valley community and the impact it can make on local lives, raising money to fund research and education, and advocate for heart health. Registration is free and participants can start a team, join a team or join as an individual.

“As one of Arizona’s major healthcare providers, Abrazo Health recognizes the importance of good health in our community and participating in the West Valley Heart Walk helps make us all better together. I’m thrilled to collaborate with the American Heart Association Arizona Division and serve as the 2023 Chair for the West Valley Heart Walk,” said Driessnack.

The Dec. 2 event will feature a 3-mile walk and a 1-mile survivor miracle mile. Pre-Walk festival activities will begin at 9 a.m. and the West Valley Heart Walk will kick-off at 9:30 a.m. Health activities and entertainment will continue after walkers complete their exercise.

“I have been affected by heart disease both personally and professionally. I lost my grandfather to a heart attack caused by congestive heart failure and my grandma to a stroke. On a professional level, I have seen the effects of unmanaged heart disease on a daily basis in my career,” said Dreissnack.

The American Heart Association is the world’s leading voluntary organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Abrazo Health is one of the leading health systems in Arizona, with a growing heart and vascular services program at Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear.

“I am excited to rally the West Valley around the community impact of heart disease. Heart disease exacts a large toll on individuals, families and businesses. This is a great opportunity to show people how they can improve the quality of their life,” said Driessnack.
