GLENDALE – Abrazo Health officials welcomed the announcement of plans to build Phoenix Children's Hospital – Arrowhead Campus adjacent to Abrazo's Arrowhead hospital. This complements Abrazo Arrowhead Campus' commitment to expanding healthcare capabilities for the community, including women's and neonatal services, since the campus opened in 1988.
“Abrazo Arrowhead Campus is an anchor in the community for Women's and Infants services. More than 3,000 babies are born every year at Abrazo Arrowhead, and we've now had two generations of families deliver babies here,” said Stephen Garner, CEO of Abrazo Arrowhead Campus. “We plan to continue to enhance these services such that Abrazo Arrowhead remains the preferred, high-quality destination to deliver for expectant mothers.”
Expected to open in 2024, Phoenix Children's Hospital – Arrowhead Campus will offer inpatient care, an emergency department, an outpatient surgery center and a multi-specialty clinic. The new freestanding, three-story pediatric hospital will be constructed next to the Abrazo Arrowhead hospital, 18701 N. 67th Ave., in Glendale.
“Phoenix Children's investment is an excellent complement to our services and a tremendous benefit to our community,” said Garner. “Phoenix Children's best-in-class pediatric care will meet a growing need for children's health services, and we are excited about welcoming them to our campus and working alongside them.”
“Abrazo Arrowhead Campus has great momentum and we are proud that Phoenix Children's chose this location for its expansion. We look forward to the addition of our future new neighbors and believe this development furthers our shared mission of providing quality health care into our communities,” added Abrazo Health CEO Brian Elisco.
Abrazo Arrowhead Campus is a 217-bed acute care teaching hospital known for its women's and infants services including a special care nursery, its cardiovascular services and surgical specialties. It is home of the Abrazo Graduate Medical Education program and Internal Medicine and General Surgery residencies.
