Gavin Koenig, MD

Gavin was born in Vail, Colorado and moved to Eugene, Oregon prior to high school. After earning a degree in international relations from the University of San Diego he sought an adventurous lifestyle living and working in New York and abroad in Australia and Central America. While attending medical school at Georgetown University he became a Population Health Track Scholar and discovered his passion for Emergency Medicine. Gavin was drawn to Abrazo by the compelling patient population and unique training opportunities the location affords, such as border medicine, toxicology, and wilderness medicine. But more than anything he was impressed by the incredibly warm and supportive faculty and residents who display a genuine camaraderie and enthusiasm for teaching. He is excited to be back out west but this time in the beautiful Arizona landscape. In his free time he plans on taking advantage of all that Arizona has to offer, so you might find him biking, bouldering, snowboarding up in Flagstaff, or catching a Spring Training game.
