Hi! I’m Elizabeth and I came to Abrazo EM all the way from Illinois. Born and raised in various suburbs of Chicago, my first big adventure was attending a math and science boarding school when I was 15. Having awakened my independent streak, I went to Texas A&M University for undergrad where I was able to spend a year at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in beautiful Clear Water Bay, Kowloon. After undergrad, I returned to my home state to attend the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Urbana-Champaign and joined the PhD program a year later. As a grad student, I had the opportunity to teach medical students and even travel to Incheon, South Korea to work directly with our collaborating lab. I also took the chance to volunteer in different units in my local hospital, sometimes alone and sometimes with my therapy dog, Pi. As soon as I spent time in the ED, I knew it was for me! When I finally returned to clinical training after grad school, my passion for EM continued to grow and I am now applying for a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Outside of medicine, I love to travel and try to eat as many different things as I can. I also enjoy a few quieter hobbies including baking, quilting, and caring for my houseplant collection. I have always admired the natural beauty of the Southwest and could not be happier exploring all the outdoor adventures Arizona has to offer with my husband, 2 kids, and the dogs!
