Amy Kristensen, MD

Undergraduate:University of Arizona

Master’s Degree:University of Edinburgh

Medical School:University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix

Clinical Interests:global health, underserved care, procedures

Amy Kristensen was born in the UK but moved to the United States at a young age with her older sister and mom. Following that, her life became a series of adventures ranging from living in Australia in her childhood to volunteering in Nepal during her undergraduate collegiate years. She went on to complete her master’s degree in Global Health and Public Policy at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland where she fell in love with the global aspect of medicine and found her life’s purpose in advocating and working with underserved communities. Following stints in New York City as well as South America, Amy worked for the Arizona state government before realizing her dream of becoming the first physician in her family. In medical school, Amy took advantage of the global health options available to her and completed two rotations internationally: the first in a rural Ugandan clinic and the second in a high-acuity emergency department outside of Cape Town in South Africa. Without experience in the emergency department prior to medical school, she didn’t know her love of emergency medicine existed until day 1 of her EM clerkship. Since then, the EM love has turned into a bit of an obsession with her taking particular interest in trauma and emergency procedures. Outside of medicine, Amy loves staying active by running and hiking. She also loves cooking and has started to make her own pastas and breads.
